Is it Blasphemy to
Question God?
|
That depends on why
you are asking the question. On countless occasions
on the net I have come across questions that did not appear to even
expect
an answer, all they wanted to do was make God look really bad.
Then when it was time
to vote for a best answer for the question they
would totally ignore the decent arguments against the point of the
questioner and vote for the most smart mouth answer that just confirms
the
point of view of the person asking the questions. These people are
committing
blasphemy.
But not all questions about or to God are
blasphemous. Take
Abraham for example in Genesis 18:16-32 is talking to God
about the
impending doom of Sodom , and Abraham worried about Lot his
nephew
that lived there, so he asked God if he would destroy it if 50
righteous
people were there ? God said he
would spare the city for 50 people, then Abraham asked would he spare
it for 45 righteous people, then he asked would
God spare it for 40 righteous people, then 30, then twenty, and again
for 10 righteous people. As a parent I can tell you that most
folks get really aggravated when they get the same question 6 times in
a row., Abraham even reminded God that he is supposed to be a fair
Judge . But God did not get angry with him..
Even though both type questions could be
aggravating there is a big difference between the two:
The first question is
isn't really a question at all, it is just an
effort to be mean to all of the people who believe in God by bad
mouthing God, and his followers. There is no love for anyone, no worry,
only bad attitude in the first type question.
In the second
type question love for a family member, and any
other good people in the town is the motivation.
So no I do not
believe it is wrong to question God. If you are
truely asking questions with a good heart, pray about and search out
the answers to your questions. God will lead you to the right place if
you are truely seeking answers.

In Acts 17:11 It says
that the people in Berea were more noble then
those in Thessalonica, because the Bereans were willing to listen
to Paul and Silas and to search the scriptures daily to find out
if Paul
and Silas were teaching the truth..
