How Do We Decide What Is True?

With truth being so foggy into today's world we will often have to work at finding it. While no one method is fool proof it is possible to find the truth.   Subjective truths are easy to come by, they refer to the person speaking, but not necessarily to anyone else. I like small dogs. This isn't true for everyone , but is certainly true for me. Often subjective truths refer to the taste of the subject speaking.

Every animal needs food. This sentence is an objective truth if I suddenly stopped believing it would still be true because it's not about me it's about the subject animals.  This type of truth that needs study.

One way to find out truth is to go to at least one authority figure. Often I try to use authority figures from at least two sides of the debate. If both sides agree on a particular part of the debate is probably true.  If we can't talk to an  authority figure all can go to the library or the internet and seek out articles written
Beware don't just ask if something is true, ask why they believe it to be true. It isn't just Christians that take things on blind faith, everyone has biases (a point of view)  even if they won't admit it. Asking questions can sometimes reveal a bias that is big enough for the authority to overlook facts that they don't like.  Some authority figures have a point of view so strong that they purposely skew the information. For example not that long ago I  saw a t.v. show that was supposed to be about the I.D. (intelligent design) movement,  but most of the show centered around a man that most I.D. people will not have anything to do with because this guy habitually throws out the main conclusions of science. I.D. on the other hand is a movement that was started by mostly scientist. And keeps up with the most recent scientific discoveries. And they refer to those discoveries when they tweak the scientific model that the information fits in, using much the same method that atheist who are scientist use, and they ask themselves what model does this new information better fit with.  Since the show in question used an authority figure that isn't really an authority figure with the subject in question, it is my opinion that the show was purposely trying to lie to it's viewers.

Another way we have of discovering the truth is by knowing  that truth can not contradict itself, if it seems to something is wrong.  Example: Some people say that all religions lead to  God.
Christianity says that only those who follow Jesus Christ as the savior from our sins will be accepted by  God.
If Christianity is true then it follows that the religions that don't accept Jesus as Messiah will not lead to God.
If Christianity is not true then at least one religion doesn't lead to God.
Therefore it can not be true that all religions lead the way to God.
In fact some religions don't believe in a God at all example Secular Humanism.

To put it more simply If I say the world is round, and someone else says the world is square someone has to be wrong. For it can not be both at the same time.

Should Christians be Concerned about the Environment?
Are All Faiths Correct?
Not Everyone Who Says they are Christian Really is a Christian.
Is Secular Humanism a Religion?
Bible verses that say Jesus is God
