Is Secular Humanism a
Religion?

Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary says secular humanism- function: noun
: humanism 3; especially : humanistic philosophy viewed as a non
theistic religion antagonistic to traditional religion- secular
humanist noun or
adjective

U.S. Supreme Court TORCASO
v. WATKINS, 367 U.S. 488 (1961) Secular Humanism is referred to
as a religion.
"Among religions in this country which do not teach what would
generally be considered a belief in the existence of God are Buddhism,
Taoism, Ethical Culture, Secular Humanism
and others."

The Humanist Manifesto 1 refers to humanism as
a religion..
The Humanist Manifest 2 backs off somewhat from it's
religious claims but still refers to other religions as traditional
religions, as
if they are a non-traditional religion.
The Humanist Manifesto 3 doesn't refer to
religion but the Manifesto still amounts to a creed taken on by faith,
and still
tackles some of the same issues that religion does.

Julian
Huxley, Humanist author and grandson of Thomas Henry Huxley
(Darwin's Bulldog) and brother of novelist Aldous Huxley wrote
that humanism was a religion.

THE
COURTS DEFINE HUMANISM AS A RELIGION
|
Not
only is secular humanism a religion but according to it's
own mainifesto it is hostile toward Christianity and other
deity focused beliefs

in 1933, humanists still believe that traditional theism, especially
faith in the prayer-hearing God, assumed to live and care for persons,
to hear and understand their prayers, and to be able to do something
about them, is an unproved and outmoded faith. Salvationism, based on
mere affirmation, still appears as harmful, diverting people with false
hopes of heaven
hereafter. Reasonable minds look to other means for survival."

John Dewey one of the
signers of the Humanist Manifesto is actually referred to as the
Father of the
Public Education system and it is my belief that he set up the public
educational system around the religion he helped to define. And
if this is true our public education system is set up around
FORCED RELIGION.
