The Resurrection was
it
spiritual or physical?
Their is a debate in some circles about the resurrection of Christ.
Some people believe that Jesus was resurrected by the Father in spirit
only, and that his body was also destroyed by the Father, while
others believe that Jesus was resurrected in body as well as
spirit.
In this
passage Jesus claims he will raise up the temple of his body. And
because of that verse I am forced to believe that it wasn't just the
Father that raised Jesus that Jesus himself took part in the act of
resurrection. But if Jesus' spirit needed resurrection then how could
he have taken part? I believe his spirit raised his body.
Jesus showed
himself
alive by many infallible proofs.
I of course can't speak for others but I have a problem with the word
infallible here if he appeared to the disciples in a borrowed body.
Merriam-Webster defines infallible as
1 : incapable of
error :
UNERRING <an infallible memory>
2 : not liable to mislead, deceive, or disappoint : CERTAIN <an
infallible remedy>
3 : incapable of error in defining doctrines touching faith or morals
Jesus appearing in someone else's body would have been confusing
to say the least
and whenever their is confusion their is a large potential for error.
How were they to know that someone who knew of their plight wasn't
pull off a con job on them if Jesus appeared in another body?
Matthew 27:62-66
Jesus had led them to expect a physical resurrection.
Luke 24:36
After Jesus was resurrected the disciples thought that he was some
kind of spirit, but his reply to them was a denial
he said handle ME, spirits do not have flesh and bones like I have. He
ate like a human, spirits have no need of food. I also believe that
this had to be his original body because he said handle "me" if it had
been the body of someone else, denying that he was a spirit and asking
them to handle a body that wasn't his would have been purposeful
deception.
