Rules (and suggestions) for Witnessing
Most Christians know that we are supposed to witness to other people but often we have no idea how,
and sometimes well intentioned Christians can make it harder for someone to come to faith in Christ.  In the section below I will give you some of my own tactics for witnessing as well as the rules that God has given us  on the subject as well.
     1) Before you start witnessing to someone take a deep breath  it is possible the person you are witnessing to will get hostile, so you need to be calm and try not to do anything to deserve  the bad attitude.

     2) Carry a notebook with you whenever come across a problem that you don't have an answer for write  down the problem and if possible get the persons phone number or e-mail address so you can send them the answer. Then find out the answer from someone you trust (You can E-mail me with it as well) , and get back  to the person if you are able to contact them. If not possible you will come across the same question again  so save the answer for later.

     3) Pray- It is your job to witness to the person's mind the Holy Spirit is in charge of the heart.

4) Let the person walk away if they want to, forcing people to listen will only cause them to avoid future contact.

5)  Give the  people you are witnessing to a business card, web site address or a tract with your contact info on them in case they want more info later.

     6) Try to stick to one or two issues while talking to the person, issues that he or she will have to think about  for awhile. If they get back to you then you can add more subjects at a later date. If you talk about to many  issues they might end up confused.

      7) Define or avoid religious church words.  Many of our words have been redefined by other groups, so if you are using allot of words like trinity you may
be talking about two different things and not know it.

8) Everyone no matter what their faith is, including Atheist has a testimony, so often they need
reasons to believe, more then they need personal testimonies.

     9) Read as much as you can. Not just Christian literature, but every once in a while read other view points
so you can better gauge what you are up against.

In 2 Cor. 6:3-10 It tells us that  we will have to have allot of patience, knowledge and kindness, unfaked love If you treat the person you are witnessing to as
a smaller person they will resent you. If you are mean to them it will confirm every bad thing they have heard about us.

Jude 1:3  Says we should strive (earnestly debate) for the faith.

1 Peter 3:15  Keep God sacred in you heart,  and always be ready to answer anyone that ask you about
your  faith , in gentleness and  in respect of God.

2 Tim.  2:15  Study the Bible regularly. I personally feel that everyone should read it from cover to cover
 at least once.

2 Tim. 2:24-25  Don't fight about the scriptures.  Teach with calmness. It is better to walk away then to fight.

Matthew 7:6 If every time you give them a good response they treat your words like dirt to be stomped on walk away. I sometimes break this rule when I am on the internet.
Even though I know I probably won't get anywhere with the person I am talking to millions of other people have a chance of seeing it. And when they see you reacting
calmly to some one with a bad attitude it will speak volumes to a reasonable person.
